Work Logs: Week 9

Week 9: April 3, 2017-April 7, 2017 (15.50/121.50 hrs.)

This week was all out of wack. I missed the first day of the week because I was sick, I missed the second show of the week but came in for the afternoon, and then Mr. Wilson was sick and missed a day as well. Despite all of that I was able to accomplish a lot in my office work for the week. Some of the work I did this week was really fun and aimed at me due to my creative side, so it was really nice to have a change like that.

Tasks completed this week:

  • Clean out span account on Instagram/Twitter

  • Learn about making spots and iHeart dropping new music

  • Add events to community calendar

  • Greet girl from local TV station; morning anchor

  • Helped for Free Movie Friday; questions & winner sheets

  • Participated in segments

  • Suggested ideas for promos or things on air which got used

  • Answers phones for giveaways

  • File winner sheets

  • Assign and create sales poster to track their earnings toward goal

  • Cut out tickets for the big sales meeting

Things I learned this week:

  • I learned that iHeart is on a big kick to be the first people to release music. It came up in conversation with Mr. Hovel as Harry Styles was releasing his new single this week. I knew personally, that he was going to be debuting the song on a British BCC Radio 1 morning show which airs 6AM their time. With the time difference that is 1AM in the United States. Mr. Hovel said that made complete sense as iHeart had already scheduled the song to air at 1AM. I found that pretty interesting.

  • During the same conversation with Mr. Hovel he was explaining to me the program he builds drops on which is called Adobe Audition. He then makes the drops with sounds and music that is given to him with permission of a paid license, and then send the drops to the proper person in whatever location they work, so the next task can be done with them.
